I first christened this series "Purgatory" around 2010, although I'd probably been playing with the ideas a year or two beforehand. My idea was to try and create a "Book of the Dead" through art----say civilization as we know it has crumbled and died---how would future archaeologists sifting through the ancient ruins understand who we were and what we were like? I tried to use art in this series to contemplate those ideas. 2010 to 2014 were the prime years for this series.
