This triptych was part of the "Purgatory" series, which attempted to retell our history and culture in eschatological, "Book of the Dead" style terms. The triptych tries to reimagine ancient sacrifice rituals in terms of capitalism and consumerism. I had been watching a lot of the radical activist movements of the day, from the TEA Party to the Occupy Movement, and observing how they were either co-opted or marginalized and crushed, and regardless of how it went, the general narrative reinforced the Establishment. I presented this as a cycle of seasons.
